GHI HMO receives highest NCQA rating

The results are in for 2009! We are pleased to announce that we have received an Excellent Accreditation rating from National Committee for Quality Assurance for GHI HMO, HIP and ConnectiCare plans.

While GHI HMO maintained its Excellent rating for its Commercial HMO plan and HIP maintained its Excellent rating for its Medicaid HMO plans, HIP was able to move its rating for its Commercial HMO/POS plans from Commendable to Excellent. ConnectiCare also maintained an Excellent rating for its plans.

NCQA Accreditation Ratings are based on three sets of performance measures: HEDIS®, CAHPS® and NCQA Accreditation Standards.
HEDIS® is the measurement tool used by the nation’s health plans to evaluate their performance in terms of clinical quality and customer service. CAHPS® is a survey mailed to selected members asking them to rate their experience with the care given by their doctors and the services provided by their plan.

HEDIS® and CAHPS® together help us understand how well we are fulfilling our clinical agenda to help people stay healthy, get better quickly, or live effectively with chronic illness. Our scores help us identify areas of care and service where we can continue to improve and allow us to compare our performance with other local and national health plans.

We could not have done it alone.
Our results demonstrate that our plan members continue to receive high quality health care and that they are satisfied with the service that their physicians, health care practitioners and health plan provide. Our thanks go to our physicians, health care practitioners, and their staff who show constant dedication to providing high quality care to patients and strive to comply with the constantly changing standards in our health care system.
