Meet Your Higher Education Sales and Marketing Team
Shawn McLoughlin joined EmblemHealth in November 2010 from Segal/Sibson Consulting, where he served as National Director of Sales and Marketing and was a key member of their Higher Education Practice team. As Director of Sales Operations, he is responsible for commercial business development, lead generation, association partnerships and proposals. Shawn has 1O years of experience in the Higher Education industry and has been an active member of industry-specific associations: CUPA-HR, NACUBO, AGB, ACE and AIRI. He frequently represents EmblemHealth at conferences and other higher education events as a sponsor, speaker or exhibitor. In addition to managing Sales Operations’ activities for the Higher Education team, he supports initiatives in the Labor, not-for-profit and individual/direct market segments. Shawn graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Arts degree and is member of the Direct Marketing Association.
Jerry Gallo joined EmblemHealth in June 2010 and has 16 years of experience working for health insurance companies, namely Oxford, MetLife and Cigna. As Director of Sales, he is responsible for large group commercial business (100+) statewide. Jerry also manages relationships within the consultant and broker community to deliver viable health care solutions for the Higher Education sector. He is an active member of CUPA-HR Metro Chapter and attends several of their events annually. During his career, Jerry has excelled in various positions ranging from individual production to sales management and has received several top sales awards. He is a member of CUPA-HR, ASHHRA and NAHU associations. Jerry received a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing and finance from Pfeiffer University, magna cum laude. He lives on Long Island with his wife and two children.
David Pikus joined EmblemHealth in October 2010 in a consulting role concentrating on product development and analyzing the company’s products for competitiveness in the marketplace. He became a full-time employee with the Large Group Sales department in June of 2011 where his focus is consultant strategy and development of the Higher Education segment. David has spent 17 years in the health care industry and has significant experience with client management and business development, as well as a strong background in technical, financial and health care concepts. David graduated from Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland with a degree in political science and economics. He is an active member of both the CUPA-HR and ASHHRA associations.
Matthew Maines joined EmblemHealth in April 2010 after 20 years of experience in health plan sales and more than a decade specializing in large account sales, implementation and funding methods. As Senior Marketing Representative, he is responsible for new sales to large groups — including higher education, labor and municipal markets — and to deliver and develop health care solutions through an extensive network of consultants. Prior to joining EmblemHealth, Matthew was a five-time quarterly leader for sales/retention in western New York at Blue Cross Blue Shield of WNY. In addition, he was responsible for sales and growth for large self-insured labor groups while at Anthem Benefit Administrators. Matthew graduated from State University of New York at Buffalo with a Bachelor of Arts degree and is an active member of the CUPA-HR Upstate Chapter.
