New York State Employees and Their Covered Dependents Represented by Council ­82 (C-82) (Contract Affected; GHI category 98D)

  • Annual maximum has been increased to $2300 per covered member.
  • Lifetime Orthodontia Maximum is $2300 per covered member.
  • Intravenous Sedation is covered when administered according to American Dental Association guidelines.
  • The dental coverage waiting period is 56 days.

  • Annual maximum has been increased to $2300 per covered member.
  • Lifetime Orthodontia Maximum has been increased to $2300 per covered member.
  • Dental coverage waiting period has changed from 6 months to 56 days.

New York State Employees and Their Covered Dependents Represented by Police Benevolent Association ­Troopers (PBA - T)

  • Annual maximum has been increased to $2300 per covered member.
  • Lifetime Orthodontia Maximum has been increased to $2300 per covered member.
  • Dental coverage waiting period has changed from 6 months to 56 days.

New York State Employees and Their Covered Dependents Represented by Public Employees' Federation (PEF)

  • Annual maximum has been increased to $2300 per covered member.
  • Sealants, a proven and effective preventive measure against cavities, are covered on permanent teeth for dependents under the age of 14.
  • Intravenous Sedation is covered when administered according to American Dental Association guidelines.
  • Lifetime Orthodontia Maximum is $1998.
  • Dental coverage waiting period has changed from 6 months to 56 days for those employees hired on or after 10/1/2000.

New York State Employees and Their Covered Dependents Represented by Police Investigators Association (PIA)

  • Annual maximum has been increased to $2300 per covered member.
  • Lifetime Orthodontia Maximum has been increased to $2300 per covered member.
  • Intravenous Sedation is covered when administered according to American Dental Association guidelines.

New York State Management/Confidential and Unrepresented Employees and Their Covered Dependents (M/C).

  • Annual maximum has been increased to $2000 per covered member.
  • Intravenous Sedation is covered when administered according to American Dental Association guidelines.
  • Lifetime Orthodontia Maximum is $1998.

Graduate student employees and their enrolled dependents in the Student Employee Health Plan (SEHP) are now eligible for dental benefits through Group Health, Incorporated (GHI)

When a participating provider in the GHI GSEU Dental Program is selected, the following dental services are covered twice per year: There is a $20 copayment per visit.

  • Examination
  • Cleaning
  • Bitewing x-rays (limit of 4 per year)
  • 2 fillings per year at a copayment of $10 per filling. $10 copayment is charged once per tooth (the $20.00 per visit co-payment is waived)

Enrollees may also use the GHI Discounted Access Program for discounts on other non-covered dental services. Contact GHI's Dedicated Customer Service Center at 1-800-947-0101 for more information or to locate a participating provider. Contact your Health Benefits Administrator to enroll in the SEHP.
