How Can I Prevent Ovarian Cancer?
Depending on your stage of life, you should discuss with your doctor the pros and cons of using birth control pills or hormone therapy pills. Low-dose birth control pills are considered protective, but hormone therapy may slightly heighten the risk of detecting ovarian cancer. If you are considered at high risk for ovarian cancer, ask your doctor about current recommendations for routine blood screening. For women at extremely high risk, a doctor may recommend having the ovaries removed as a preventive measure.
Several studies have reported a lower rate of ovarian cancer in women who have a diet high in vegetables.
Although some studies have shown that Tylenol and aspirin lower the risk of ovarian cancer more research is need prior to using these medications simply to reduce the risk.
