Stillbirth
What Are the Symptoms?
Often, there are no physical warnings of a stillbirth. However, the following symptoms could signal a problem:
- Vaginal bleeding. Many women who experience vaginal bleeding during pregnancy have no trouble carrying their babies to term. But such bleeding especially during the second half of pregnancy may mean there's a problem. If you have bleeding, call your doctor.
- Lack of fetal movement or a change in the normal activity level of your baby.
- Persistent cramping or stabbing pains in the pelvis, back, or lower abdomen.
Call Your Doctor If:
- You are pregnant and experience bleeding, pain, or cramping in your pelvis, back, or lower abdomen.
- You notice that your fetus has become significantly less active.
