Uterine Fibroids
The Basics | Symptoms | Treatment
What Are the Symptoms?
Often, uterine fibroids have no symptoms. When they do, they may include:
- Heavy, prolonged, or irregular menstrual bleeding.
- Non cyclic Pain in the lower abdomen or back.
- Painful intercourse.
- Urinary problems, such as urinary frequency.
- Rectal problems, such as pain in the rectum.
Fibroids rarely are the sole cause of infertility (less than 10% of the time) but those that develop within the uterine cavity lining have been found to contribute to recurrent miscarriages.
